    be more people orientated instead of activity orientated. Encourage youth in the ministry to mingle with those outside, actively be part of their friend’s lives and subsequently ask them into the church.

    If you can’t bring them from their lives to the church, bring the church into their lives.

    and i found it applicable where i am now, well it’s hard to drag ppl to church week by week, you think it’s hard with non-christians, i have to drag my CHRISTIAN friends to church each week, and it’s hard to motivate them to go when they have studies and all. so what we can do as a small group in my hostel is believers BE the church there, and we just ask them about their spiritual conditions, hold up each other and encourage each other to go church. it’s a bit hard even trying to keep the people who are supposed to be in (christians) in, i don’t know why ppl don’t take church seriously here, the christians, and the problem is usually with guys, not girls =p

    in my hostel i can identify the issues:

    a.) waking up in the morning

    this one is the most ’swt’ reason, but students here study/play until VERY late at night, then wake up in the morning want to sleep again

    b.) heavy workload in NUS(national university of singapore)

    they feel that go to church is a waste of time when they could get other things done

    both these 2 reasons add up to one big reason:

    they were not educated/taught to take church seriously when they are young

    so when they come out for tertiary education away from home, naturally they stray away from church :( furthermore they are not ATTACHED to the new churches here yet, being away from home, no sense of belonging, adds up to the lack of motivation, “i’ll go if some one i know goes with me (and that is if I’m awake), if not i wont’ go” this is the kind of mentality.

    Emerging Missional Church 

    做个处于后现代的传道人,如何去领导与牧养当代教会呢?读了吉斯可(Mark Driscoll) 的两本著作:《Confessions of a Reformission Rev.》(谈到领导及牧养新兴教会 的心路历程)及《The Radical Reformission》(谈到他领导教会的信念和方式),我有一些反省和得着。

    吉斯可相信,领导与牧养教会最不可缺少的要素就是 - 耶稣基督。包括:传道人必须效法耶稣基督的牧养理念和心态,讲台信息不可缺少耶稣基督(把讲章、经文连接到主耶稣基督身上),传道人的生活形式(福音使命和文化使命也不例外)必须效法耶稣基督。

    他也深信,虽然传道人无法避免去管理或执行“教会里”大大小小的事务(working in church), 但确实有需要花更多时间和精神极力于策划与推动教会前面的福音与文化事工(working on church)。

    他指出,传道人必须清楚明白主所颁布的使命,否则会深深影响其事奉理念与心态。传道人不单只自己要去认清使命,更要引导弟兄姐妹一同去承担使命。藉此,他列出这使命的三个层面:福音(爱神)、文化(爱邻舍)、教会(爱弟兄姐妹)。 一旦信徒缺少承担这使命中的任何一个层面,其结果是明显的:
    a. 福音+文化-教会=超教会的组织或机构
    (Gospel+Culture-Church=Parachurch)
    b. 文化+教会-福音=自由主义
    (Culture+Church-Gospel=Liberalism)
    c. 教会+福音-文化=基要主义
    (Church+Gospel-Culture=Fundamentalism)

    除此以外,他也指出传道人必须清楚理解本身教会的性质,领导上才不至于方向模糊、方式冲突。他指出现时代三种不同性质的教会:
    a. 传统、制度化的教会(Traditional and institutional church) - 传道人是仆人和教师,负责执行教会大部分的事工,特别是传福音。
    b. 现代福音派教会(Contemporary and evangelical church) - 传道人有如执行总裁,领导并管理教会同工,这些同工则负责教会事工。
    c. 新兴使命化的教会(Emerging and missional church) - 传道人是宣教研究人员,训练基督徒成为有效的宣教士。

    他既清楚自己教会的性质与方向(新兴使命化的教会),就制定目标与策略,持着“宣教领域就出现在你家门外”的理念,栽培每一位教会会友成为背负使命的门徒。他相信,个别教会所吸引的人群类型都会有所不同,因此他坚持,教会的每一位会友都必须认同教会的信仰立场与福音使命,否则将不被接纳成为教会会友。 如此做的目的,有利于教会上下一致朝共同的方向前进,可以减少会友在事奉上与传道人、长老、执事等所产生的冲突。

    有关教会领导层方面,吉斯可认为新兴使命化的教会需要接触外界世俗的人群,故此其教会的领导层并不以阶级制度来进行组织。相反,其教会以平行关系的方式来进行组织(三一神 > 长老 > 执事 > 会友 > 慕道者 > 未信者), 我相信其所要带出的乃是强调对话(Conversation)过于命令(Command)。
